St Helena
RMS St Helena is unique. First of all, she is the only ocean-going vessel in the world still to carry the venerable title of Royal Mail Ship, held in the past by so many famous British passenger liners, the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary amongst them. Second, she does the unique job of supplying the remote South Atlantic island of St Helena with pretty well everything it needs - St Helena has no airfield and this means that everything has to be brought in by sea. Not quite unique, RMS St Helena is one of very few genuine passenger-cargo liners in the world (there is another plying the Pacific), making regular scheduled voyages. A voyage on the RMS is an unforgettable experience: a blue water voyage on a working ship to lonely and remote tropical islands.
